These apps that we will share today can engage kids of all ages in learning everything from playing an instrument to composition and music theory. And while these will never replace your kids’ actual music lessons at school or a music school, they sure can help keep them interested and busy this summertime.

1. Tune Train
This iOS app teaches young children the fundamental structure of music, including pitch, notes and note length, and chords. It also allows them to create and edit melodies with just the swipe of a finger.!

This fun iOS app teaches kids ages 3 to 7 many of the essential components of music, including notes, rhythm, and pitch.

3. Kids Ear Training
An app for both iOS and Android devices, Kids Ear Training is a complete ear training program. Ideal for kids who are already learning an instrument or who sing in a choir.

4. Theory Lessons
This iOS app includes 39 animated music theory lessons. It is an excellent option for older kids who have some music knowledge.

5. Music Tutor Sight Read Lite
This Android app offers quizzes and lessons for music students learning to sight-read. A paid version provides additional features.
