Hacks For Guitarists

Sometimes being a musician is hard, especially if you are a guitarist. Thus, when we came across an article that mentioned seven great hacks to make our lives easier, we needed to share it with you!

November 12th, 2019

According to Micky, from rockmyworld.com, a lot of  you guys will have seen a few of these. But, many others are not that obvious or popular! Thus, keep on reading…

1. Hack One: Use a pencil to tune

Just to be clear, there is no way to tune a guitar with a pencil. However, using a pencil to mark the nut slot can help you to prevent your guitar from going out of tune.

2. Hack Two: Velcro

If you’re using battery-powered pedals, this one applies to you. There is nothing worse than being halfway through a gig only to notice your pedal is out of juice. Getting out the screwdrivers is time-consuming and will hold up the performance. Avoid this scenario by ditching the pedal’s screws and replacing them with velcro beforehand.

3. Hack Three: Shoelaces

Easily remove your knobs to clean or replace them by taking a flat shoelace and slipping it under them. Once the lace is securely wrapped around the knob, all you need to do is pull.

4. Hack Four: Warm Your Strings

You may have noticed that your guitar drops out of tune faster after a restring. To avoid it, wrap a cloth around the string and run it up and down to create some warmth while you stretch it.

5. Hack Five: Gate Check Your Guitar

If you’re flying with your guitar, you can gate check. By doing so, it will be with you up until you board and is one of the last things to get put on the plane.

I love how Marcos lets me learn so many songs, not just one! I like how he gives me compliments. It’s really fun when Marcos does the bass clef with the left hand and I get to make up my own song that goes with it for a warm up. It’s fun because I get to make up my own songs. I love the sound of the piano!

I really like that we get to pick what songs we want to learn in Marcos’s guitar class. I also love that he is compassionate and lets us progress at our own pace. Marcos knows EVERYTHING about instruments, and I’m glad he can share some of it with me. I’m glad that I get to learn how to read, write, and play music for the guitar. It is a lot of fun when Marcos and I play the guitar together!

Both of my children love their music lessons with Marcos. They look forward to their music lessons each week and come home eager to practice their new pieces. I especially love that he teaches them to compose their own pieces and inspires their musical creativity. Marcos is always positive and encouraging with my children, and he has a knack for bringing out their best. I highly recommend 123 Rock to anyone looking for a music teacher!

Marcos Moscat is a talented musician and instructor. His approach to teaching is kind and respectful. He encourages his students to study music that appeals to them. By attending to the interests of each student, Marcos is a master at nurturing student engagement. Our son, Jackson, has been taking lessons for over two years.
