Hello everyone!
Once again, new celebrations and fun activities come our way this time of the year. Amongst the many things this season represents, Halloween is one of those favorite events everyone looks forward to. But what really makes Halloween so unique? Is it the candy? The costumes? The pumpkin carving? The decorations? Or perhaps it is a combination of multiple elements?
Halloween takes us a step closer into a world of magic and fun. From trick or treating to pumpkin carving, Halloween has fun activities for everybody. But
what about Music? Is Halloween music a key ingredient to the Halloween experience? We definitely think so!
A Song for Halloween
Like decorations and seasonal traditions, music can play a big part in the special events we celebrate.
This month Halloween takes us into a world of costumes, spookiness, magic, pumpkins, candy, secrets, tricks, and treats. Still, the world of Halloween wouldn’t be complete without a particular style of music that we consider “Halloweenish.” But what does that really mean? Can anyone make music sound spooky, as in Halloween Music?
Here’s an idea for a fun activity this Halloween… Can you write a Halloween song or a melody that resonates with you?
To get you started, try using the notes of the following scale based in the key of E minor and see what you can come up with!
E – F# – G – A# – B – C – D# – E
Let us know if you get to write a Halloween song or your own Halloween-themed melody before Sunday, October 31st, and share it with us for a special Halloween treat!
