There is no doubt that music makes us eat differently. Several studies have shown that listening to music while eating is likely to increase our food and drink intake.
Moreover, music also makes our lunch longer. It means that music can keep us more time in a restaurant. More surprising, music’s rhythm also influences the rhythm of our chewing.
Research has also discovered that music also affects the way we perceive or taste food.
People agree that chips taste much better when they are crispy! It means that sound changes our perception of the taste of food — proving that sound and music impact our relationship with food.
Additionally, music has another great power from which restaurants can benefit. Scientists found a positive correlation between the fact that one likes a piece of music played in a place and one’s level of affection for this place.
In other words, the more you like the music you hear in a place, the more you will like that place.
